Attaboy Beer opened in Frederick, MD in 2016 by Carly and Brian. The two met for a blind date at a fancy rum bar in 2007. I guess you can say the date went pretty well because they've been inseparable ever since.
They shared the love of beer and enjoyed the causal, fun community that beer creates. This inspired them to start home brewing. The two have dreamed of opening their own brewery one day. And well.... after 6 long years ---- they're doing it!
Attaboy has a changing set of beers on tap so they're always offering something unique and different. Carly and Brian enjoy having the room for creativity and experimentation.
The two have dreamed of creating a brewery that emphasizes quality in a relaxed environment -- they succeeded! Attaboy offers a casual, community vibe. The brewery is family friendly. They have games outside and a snack cart inside (chips, cookies, crackers) that relies on the honor system.
When you first arrive, you'll notice that the brewery gives off a commercial building/warehouse type of vibe. There is plenty of parking on the side of the building and the scenery is nice. Attaboy is close to the water -- Carroll Creek. After Christian and I left the brewery, we took a walk to see what it was all about (definitely worth it!)
Christian and I decided to go to Attaboy because his dad and stepmom were there. When we got there, we met them in the beer garden, the outside section of the brewery. They had plenty of picnic benches, games, and food trucks outside. Inside the brewery there was plenty of seating as well. I really liked their apparel and merchandise too!
Attaboy had a good selection of beer on tap. I believe they had about 10 the day that I went. Of course, Christian and I got a flight so we could try multiple beers. Their flights only allowed you to get 3 beers so we decided to get Sporto, Arabelle, and Creeklife.
I wasn't the greatest fan of their beer, however, I'm extremely picky and am known to stick to sours and less hoppy beers. I know it's not fair to judge a place just based off of my thoughts and opinions so I took into account the opinion of the other people that I went to Attaboy with.
Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and location of Attaboy and highly recommend checking it out if you're ever near Frederick, MD!
That being said, here is my rating:
Atmosphere - ★★★★ - Attaboy had a great atmosphere. They offered plenty of seating and a nice family, community type of vibe. I enjoyed the beer garden!
Beer - ★★★★ - I didn't personally enjoy their beer all that much. However, as mentioned before, I'm super picky. So, for this rating, I took into account the opinions of people that I was with.
Employees - ★★★★- The employees here were nice and friendly and service was quick! However, I didn't get the chance to really interact with them considering I sat outside in the beer garden.
Location - ★★★★ - The location gives you a commercial building/warehouse vibe with nice scenery. The brewery is close to the water as well. Attaboy provides a large parking lot so there is never an issue.
Social Media - ★★★★ - Attaboy does a fantastic job on their social media platforms - Facebook and Instagram. They do a great job posting different and unique content on each page. However, they're not active on Twitter and that could be a mistake...
Total: 4 STARS!
Well cheers for now!!,
